Tai Chi Weekend Breaks

Braziers Park, Ipsden, Oxfordshire OX10 6AN

September 25th-27th 2026

An architectural treasure hidden deep in the Oxfordshire countryside, tranquil Braziers Park provides a comfortable and attractive venue , It’s large terrace enables us to spend as much time as possible practising Tai Chi outdoors. Our weekend break will have an informal friendly atmosphere supported by the staff that live and work here.

Braziers Park

Braziers Park is one of the oldest secular intentional communities in Europe. Around 20 people live and work in this beautiful, Grade 2 listed, Strawberry Hill Gothic mansion house. The estate is 55 acres of meadows and woodland close to the Ridgeway, Chilterns and the Thames. Perfect for a variety of places to try out your Tai Chi.

Delicious meals are prepared in the kitchen from quality raw ingredients. Many of Brazier Park’s own vegetables and fruits are harvested and used for desserts, jam, juices and cordials.  The food served is as organic, locally sourced, and free-trade as possible. Pigs, chickens, and ducks are kept on the working farm at Braziers Park.

In these unique and peaceful surroundings we’ll learn Traditional Yang style Tai Chi. The learning will be reinforced by regular practise throughout the weekend. Expert tuition is offered, giving all participants opportunities to develop mindfulness skills and feeling-body sensitivity. We’ll create a sense of community with our shared practise.

My current teacher is Master John Ding 7th generation traditional Yang style. I am privileged to have been taught by Master Sangeetam founder of the Golden Flower Tai Chi Association and Master Dong Zeng Chen and his son Alex, Dong family style.

During the weekend I will share knowledge and skills I have gained from over 35 years of learning from these Masters.

Tai Chi is a profound art. No human in one lifetime could possibly be proficient in all aspects of the training it takes to reach the highest level of demonstrable skills. Each Tai Chi teacher passes on what they are good at, what they refine and what they deem necessary to share, to ensure that the pinnacle attainments of Tai Chi can continue to flourish.

After tai chi - relax and let go

The weekend is focused on learning Tai Chi Principles, including Chi Gung, Meditation, discussion and partner work which all take place during the weekend, appropriate to the level of the participants, from beginner to advanced.

“I had an incredible weekend at Emerson College, learning the joyful Golden Flower form amidst beautiful grounds. The superb teaching, delicious biodynamic food, and quiet companionship of like-minded people made it unforgettable. It was a perfect retreat from daily life to practice Tai Chi and Qigong, creating deep stillness and peace that I’ve carried with me since.”   JB

“Michael has a knack for transmitting the foundations of Taoist practice. He transmits these foundations with economy and then expertly builds upon those foundations so that I felt I was getting in tune with the practice very quickly. He asked a lot of us in a light hearted way and with his encouragement we each committed fully to practicing.
The venue has stunning grounds with many flowering trees and it was a privilege to practice in such beautiful natural surroundings.

The staff at Emerson are warm hearted and welcoming and the food delicious. This all added up to a very energetically nurturing experience.

Highly recommended for anyone with any level of experience as Michael knows how to respond to each students level of ability.”  MJ
